Your homepage shows a blog post, not your business

This review is about what your website brings in, and what stops it. We went through the site, your search rankings and your reviews. The main finding is the biggest one: your homepage address doesn't show a homepage at all, it shows a single blog article with a sidebar of recent posts. No services, no photos, no way to book a job. Underneath that, your logo image is missing (a broken link), and the file you give Google to find your other pages is broken too, it points at an address that just says "moved" instead of your actual pages. Despite all that, five of your real service pages already sit somewhere between 18th and 55th for genuine, sizeable searches. It's all detailed below, with what to do about each one.

01 The rankings

Real pages, real searches, almost no one arriving

Semrush shows 37 searches for this site. Only 1 monthly visit gets through, despite five real service pages already sitting somewhere between 18th and 55th for searches with genuine volume behind them.

What people GooglePeople / monthYour situation
bord gais boiler service2,40026th, from your boiler page.26th

electrician cork88049th, from the homepage.49th

gas boiler service cork32048th, from the homepage.48th

These are real, sizeable searches with real pages built to answer them, and the site still earns almost no visits. That combination, decent pages, near-zero traffic, is what points straight at the two structural faults in section 02, not the pages themselves.

Bottom line: The pages are doing their job. Something underneath them is stopping Google from trusting the site enough to send anyone through.
02 The specifics

Four things holding the site back

The first two are severe and worth fixing before anything else. The site is fast, that part is not the problem.

Broken
Your homepage address shows a blog post, not your business
Visit gaselectricalservices.ie today and you land on a single article, "What Every Homeowner Really Needs to Know About Domestic Electrical Services in Cork," with a sidebar of recent posts, archives and a login link. There's no hero, no service list, no way to see what you do or book a job. This is a WordPress setting that has almost certainly reverted or was never set, not a rebuild.
Broken
The file you give Google to find your pages is broken
Your sitemap correctly points to a second file for your page list, and that second file returns a "301 Moved Permanently" error page instead of your pages. Confirmed directly. Google is being handed a dead end instead of your site's real page list.
Broken
Your logo image file is missing
The image file itself returns a not-found error when requested directly. Every visitor currently sees a broken-image icon where your logo should be.
Weak
Your Google listing description is 37 characters long
"Plumbing and Electrical services Cork" is accurate but tiny. Google has room for around 155-160 characters and gets almost nothing to work with here.
Worth noticing

None of this is a content problem. The service pages exist and already earn real positions. The homepage and sitemap faults are the kind of thing worth fixing directly first, then deciding separately whether the rest of the site needs a broader rebuild around it.

Bottom line: The front door is broken. Fix that first, the pages behind it are already halfway there.
03 Done for you

The fixes, already written out

Each fix below is ready to hand to whoever manages the site.

Fix 1 · New text for your Google listing
This is what people see when Gas Electrical Services comes up on Google today, next to what it should say.

Plumbing and Electrical services Cork
What it should show
https://gaselectricalservices.ie
Plumbers & Electricians Cork | Gas Electrical Services
Gas boiler service, emergency plumbing and electrical work across Cork. Periodic inspections, oil boilers and 24-hour call-outs.
Fix 2 · The two structural faults
Both are settings-level fixes, not new content.
Homepage go to Settings then Reading in WordPress, set "Your homepage displays" to a static page instead of your latest posts, and build or restore a real homepage with your services and contact details.
Page list file re-save your permalinks and regenerate the list of pages you give Google so it returns your actual pages instead of a "moved" error.
Fix 3 · The remaining quick fixes
Smaller, but each one is a real, confirmed issue on the live site.
Re-upload the logo image the current file returns a not-found error
Update the footer copyright from 2024 to 2026
Add a real H1 heading to the homepage once it's rebuilt none exists today

05 What it adds up to

Run your own numbers on it

Those six searches add up to

5,660 searches every month.

1 visit a month currently arrives from the entire site.

Every one of the six already ranks somewhere between 26th and 55th.

Pages already sitting on page three to six, for searches this size, with the site earning almost no traffic at all, is the clearest sign the homepage and sitemap faults are actively holding the rest of the site back. You know your average job value on a plumbing, gas or electrical call-out, and what your close rate looks like once someone actually rings. That's the sum worth running on your side.

Bottom line: Fix the front door first. The pages behind it already have real positions to build on.
Why sooner beats later

38 referring domains already point at gaselectricalservices.ie, real authority for a small site. None of it is reaching visitors today because the homepage a stranger actually lands on isn't a homepage. Every day that stays true is a day that authority goes to waste.
